A Life of Impact and Inspiration

Cedric Babu was not only a prominent sportsman but also a visionary leader. As a former Davis Cup player, he represented Uganda with pride on the international tennis stage. He later served as President of the Uganda Tennis Association, where he worked tirelessly to develop the sport and nurture young talent across the country.

His commitment extended beyond tennis. Cedric was an outspoken advocate for youth empowerment, using sports as a tool to inspire, mentor, and uplift young Ugandans. His efforts earned him admiration and respect both locally and internationally.

A Desperate Battle for Survival

Earlier this year, Cedric’s health condition deteriorated significantly. He was diagnosed with a critical heart condition that required an urgent transplant abroad. A public appeal was launched to raise £300,000 for a life-saving heart surgery in the United Kingdom. The campaign drew wide support from friends, well-wishers, and the general public. Unfortunately, the funds were not raised in time to enable the transplant.

Final Days

Cedric collapsed earlier this month while attending a tennis tournament in Kigali, Rwanda. He was swiftly airlifted to the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite relentless efforts by medical professionals, he succumbed to the illness in critical condition.

A Legacy That Lives On

Cedric’s untimely death has left a deep void in Uganda’s sports and development circles. His leadership, mentorship, and passion for excellence made him a beacon of hope for many. Tributes have poured in from sports bodies, youth organizations, and individuals whose lives he touched.

Though he is gone, Cedric Babu Ndilima’s legacy will endure. He leaves behind a generation of youth empowered by his vision, and a country grateful for his service and passion.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
